My wind unit (Anemometer/Vane + Solar panel
& transmitter) is mounted on a crank-up mast at 30ft
The mast is guyed and has already resisted some
severe gales! |

 |
|
I fitted the Rain Gauge Bucket onto a 12"
square of HE30 Aluminium 3mm thick. Then installed it on the slightly
sloaping workshop roof. By adding a few spacers it's now totally level |

The associated Solar Charger/Transmitter unit
is a few feet away also up on my workshop roof. I argon welded a
short piece of 1¼" diameter Aluminium tube onto a baseplate
to make a nice secure installation |

My outside Temperature/Humidity Sensor is
housed in a home-made Stevenson Radiation Screen |
|
 |
|
The unit is constructed from standard plastic
Plant Pot Saucers. The Sensor just sits "As snug as a bug in a
rug" in the end of the mounting pole! |

|
I tried the unit in it's previous siting, in
the shade behind a bush where it can never see the sun. I then
mounted it on the otherside of the bush in full sunlight. There
seemed to be an increase of 1°C when the outside temperature was
20°C. Fitting an extra saucer on the top has reduced this to
0.5°C increase. I am quite happy with this and see no point in
fitting a fan or any additional screening |
